Dr. Gary Mabry
Music Minister
Gary is in his 27th year as a choral director and voice teacher at UTSA. Prior to that he taught on the music faculties of Montana State University and Abilene Christian University. He served as Artistic Director and Conductor of the San Antonio Choral Society from 1993 to 2006. For several years, he was the Chorus Master of the San Antonio Opera. Gary has also served on the Executive Board of the Texas Choral Directors Association from 2012 to 2014 as Church Division Vice President. For seven summers he taught choral and vocal music at the Interlochen Arts Camp in Michigan and has been involved in church music leadership for 48 years in congregations of the Church of Christ, the United Methodist Church, the Lutheran Church, the Christian Church, and the Presbyterian Church in Texas, Colorado, and Montana. For the past 10 years, he has served as Music Director for Travis Park United Methodist Church in San Antonio.
Gary received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Abilene Christian University, a Master of Music degree in Conducting from Hardin-Simmons University, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Voice Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Douglas Boldt

Douglas graduated from Warner Pacific University (Portland, OR) in 1982 with B.A. in Music Ed. and went on receive an M.S.T. in Music Ed. from Portland State University (Portland, OR) in 1989, and an M.A. in Counseling (pastoral care) from Western Seminary (Portland, OR) in 2005. He has been involved in music education throughout his life, having taught Kindergarten through high school. Most recently Douglas was choral director at Brennen High School (2011-2015) and is currently music specialist at Carlos Coon Elementary School (NISD). He has taught private piano, and is very active as an accompanist throughout the San Antonio area.
Douglas has been involved in ministry since 1980. He has served as music and worship leader in churches in Oregon, California, and Texas. He was also the senior pastor, as well as worship leader and choral director, of the Richmond Community Church (Church of God, Anderson, IN, affl.) in Portland, Oregon from 1996-2006.
Douglas and his wife Teri were married in 1984, and are the proud parents of five adult children and two beautiful grandchildren. Since joining the staff on September 1st, 2019, Douglas and Teri have so enjoyed the loving and welcoming family at Holy Spirit! In his spare time, Douglas greatly enjoys spending time with Teri and the grandchildren as well as reading, preferably out on the back deck! He always keeps two books going at a time, a work of fiction and a work of non-fiction.
Joyce St. John

Mrs. St. John is a retired educator with 42 years of experience. She comes with an extensive background in administration that includes director positions in federal programs and special education, curriculum writing, program development, and staff training. She has been a principal and assistant principal at all levels.
Mrs. St. John has been married to her husband, Michael, for 50 years and has two grown children, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandson. She has four dogs she loves to talk about. Her hobbies are reading, baking, and riding her bike. She is a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, sings in the choir, and is a Spirit Strummer (the ukulele group).

Amanda La Hue
Church Administrator
Amanda began as the full-time church administrator in February of 2022. Amanda is a UTSA graduate with a background in Education, Community Health, and Social Work. She is a former St. David’s Episcopal School teacher and worked as a Conservatorship Specialist with the Texas Department of Family and Children’s Services in the Child Protection Division for seven years. She hopes to someday complete her Master’s in Social Work! Amanda’s experience in social work and knowledge of community resources is an asset to our church staff.
Amanda and her family have attended Holy Spirit since 2011. She loves the welcoming and engaging church community and is excited to join the staff as Church Administrator. Amanda usually spends her spare time driving her children (ages 14 and 9) to their extracurricular activities but loves to spend time with her husband and family, read, and travel if time allows! She is also mom to a rapidly growing Great Dane named June Carter Cash.
As a former teacher and social worker, Amanda serves the Holy Spirit community with great compassion.

Spirit Time Worship Leader
Mrs. Jackie volunteers as the Spirit Time Children's Worship Leader every Sunday during 10:00 am Morning Worship. Children ages 4 through 5th grade are invited to join us for this special worship service just for them in the Chapel of St. Michael.
